Today was the start of this treatment journey. Had part of my tribe with me. Of course Jeff and Kim were there along with Jackye. Can’t thank them enough, I have THE BEST tribe! Thanks also to everyone that sent a text or message checking on me and/or sent me prayers and good vibes.
I had to be there at six, so I was first today. Yay me – won that lottery lol
Learned a few things from Shouse before surgery. I CAN go to the pool, just avoid it for 24 hrs after it’s been used. And I should “try” to avoid having bp checked and blood drawn on my left side. With that being said, he said it’s ok IF they can’t for some reason use the other arm. I only had one lymph node removed but he says better safe than sorry.
It’s funny how I never heard of “triple negative” before. Heard it one the news 2 times today since I’ve been home. Leave it to me to get the “trending” kind lol
Ok back to the issues at hand. They said port placement went well.
Again – I’m not gonna sugar coat this. It hurts like a mother clucker! Feels like it’s digging into my collarbone. But I’ve got good drugs and as long as I don’t move it’s not bad. Praying tomorrow is better.
Did you know they make such a thing as a “port shirt”? (That’s a picture of one at the top). I did not. Saw it on one of the breast cancer sites. It has zippers on each side so they can get to the port. 2 of mine were delivered today so I’m ready for Thursday.
Tomorrow I have an echocardiogram. They want to make sure my hearts ok before they start chemo. Seems like someone would have wanted to make sure my heart was good before these surgeries. Oh well, I survived!
I’ll close for now and I thank everyone for keeping me in your prayers!
