Yesterday was my first day of Chemo Treatment. It was just the unknown going into it. All of the nurses and Dr. Aerkaudia made me feel special. Only had a couple of little issues. The first nurse couldn’t hit my port so there was lot of “pushing”.. that did not feel the greatest. 2nd nurse hit first try, but not till after she did a lot of pushing!
I had two nausea medicines prior to the first chemo drug called Adriamycin (also known as the Red Devil drug). The Red Devil drug was a very fast drip and finished with it pretty quick. 2nd medicine was Cytoxan. I had a reaction to it where my nose and sinus cavities felt weird, like when you go underwater and get it up your nose. Sorry that is the only way I can describe it.
They had to slow that drug way down and also a faster saline drip. Leave it to me! She did say that happened to some people, so I’m not alone.
I’m so thankful for Jeff and Kim for being by my side during that 4 hour stay (well Jeff left
for lunch lol). Once home I took it easy and also took a nice long nap (did not seem to bother me last night as I slept well).
When I showed up with my big chemo bag they probably thought I was moving in. I don’t care! I had everything in there I could possibly need. My main note to self was need to wear some kind of really really comfy stretch pant as you are in the recliner all the time but bathroom trips. Well, guess I could have moved around in my little room some but ya gotta drag your pole with you.
I am feeling pretty good today, a little sleepy is all.
I thank you all for all of the text, phone calls and messages I received yesterday, I know that and all the prayers really helped. I couldn’t do this journey without you.
God Bless each of you !
